Ellington Legacy

Etienne joined Edward Kennedy Ellington II, grandson of the legendary Duke Ellington and the Ellington Legacy Band for a show at Trumpets in New Jersey.

Etienne recorded on vocalist Cynthia Scott's new album featuring Bill Easley, Lonnie Plaxico, John DiMartino, Yoron Israel, Wayne Escoffrey and Andre Murchison with arrangements by legendary Norman Simmons. Be on the lookout for this record next year.


On August 13th & 14th Etienne recorded his second album, Folklore, featuring Jacques Schwarz-Bart, Obed Calvaire, Luques Curtis, Milan Milanovic, Len Boogsie Sharpe, Ralph MacDonald, D'Achee, Ray Charles and 3 Canal.

Bryant Park Trumpet Battle

Jazz at Lincoln Center's jazz battle's went to Bryant Park this summer and August's installment paired Etienne with Joe Magnarelli and the Roni Ben hur trio with Lewis Nash and Ari Roland.

Happy Birthday

Etienne celebrated his 25th birthday on July 24th while on tour in Montreal performing for the weekend with John Roney's Quartet at Upstairs Jazz Club.

Panjazz - Three the hardway

This installment of Panjazz featured Ralph MacDonald and Friends, Buddy Williams, David Spinozza, Nicholas Brancker, Arturo Tappin, Rob Mounsey, Roger Greenidge and Etienne Charles.

Etienne Charles, MM

On May 24th 2008, Etienne received his Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School. He was also awarded the William Schuman Prize for outstanding achievement and leadership in music of a graduate student.

Lords of the West Indies

Etienne was featured at the Allen Room at Jazz At Lincoln Center again this time with legendary pianist, Monty Alexander in the concert, Lords of the West Indies, a celebration of mento, calypso and jazz.

Deep In The Shed

Etienne performed the Deep in the Shed suite with his mentor Marcus Roberts at the Allen Room in Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Live At MoMA

On August 12, 2007 Etienne made his New York debut with his band 'Culture Shock Project' in the Summergarden series at the Museum of Modern Art.
